I’m in Birmingham, once again with the mighty Trevor Gibson back on production at Circle Studios.
The focus now is on finding my voice, in a much bigger sense than it was formerly. Where before, it was being able to say what I needed at a personal level, now I’m going for the bigger truths of our existence. I’m addressing what’s happening in the world and sharing my voice on that. My writing perspective is now beyond me and is including the collective.
So, of course, I have a female voice, and that will evidence itself in sound and narrative. I want to be clear that I am willing to dig my heels in where injustice is concerned - and that has certainly shown up in the world in a big way and in many respects, in recent times.
Now is not the time to pipe down. Now is not the time to be small. Now is not the time to be silent. Not when cruelty is becoming so normalised.
We stand together. We stand strong. And we use our voices for good.
That’s what I’m here for. And that’s the centre of the next EP.
I’m stoked to begin working on it today.
